Ellen Wheeler of Alive Publishing Group hosted a women’s lunch during CHFA NOW in Toronto
On the surface, it appeared to be a simple lunch. In reality, it was an opportunity to gather some of our industry’s most influential women to connect, network, and share.
The “Sushi & Sparkle” lunch during CHFA NOW in Toronto in September 2024 was organized by Alive Publishing Group’s vice president of partnerships, Ellen Wheeler. This was the second time she organized this gathering.
“I hosted the first event at CHFA NOW in Vancouver in 2024. At the time, I had been nominated for the Woman of Influence Award and it really made me reflect on what the award meant and what the whole industry has come to mean to me. It became clear to me that the reason I was still involved in the natural health industry after 27 years is the people that I have connected with, that have built my network. This, in turn, prompted me to share my contacts and network between some of the amazing women that I get to call my friends. My goal is to create a space and time for us to share our strengths and our challenges.”
Nadiya Raphael, general manager and vice president at Canada New Chapter, Inc., said Ellen’s idea of hosting wonderful women in our industry was a great concept that she made a reality. “Our industry is beautiful and energizing, but bringing together women who move our businesses was brilliant and needed. She filled a needed gap.
“We had insightful and meaningful discussions,” Nadiya added. “I look forward to more engaging and empowering conversations with this group she brought together. It was an enriching experience!”
As LeBeau Excel’s vice president Kim LeBeau said, “the event Ellen put together allowed us to partner on problems and issues, and support each other to have breakthroughs and connection.
“It’s important to find a group that you can mentor and be mentored by. Hearing what all these talented ladies are up to left me inspired and motivated to do all the work we need to do,” Kim explained. “The best part of the event—other than the food—was the connection we all felt, as we discussed our individual paths and projects and how much we all love this industry. I absolutely loved what Ellen put together.”
Tracy Creighton, national sales director, Bioforce Canada Inc. (A. Vogel), was thrilled to have received an invitation from Ellen to attend an industry networking luncheon with other women leaders from our industry. “The event was truly energizing, providing a dynamic platform for sharing insights and fostering collaboration.”
Tracy went on to add: “It was inspiring to engage with women leaders to exchange ideas but, most importantly, the luncheon offered a unique opportunity to build lasting professional relationships and create a strong sense of camaraderie and mutual support.”
